Freytag Cellars is a boutique, family wine label based in Springfield, Oregon. We produce delicious, small-batch wines crafted with grapes from various high-quality vineyards in Oregon and Washington. Our family also takes the lead in producing wines for East Springfield's McKenzie Crest Wines.
Grapes are picked and meticulously processed, all by hand, with minimal intervention during the winemaking process. Our popular "Wildflower" line-up features wines that undergo at least 30% wild fermentation with native yeast and microflora.
At Freytag Cellars we love to explore many different varietals. However, it's common to find in our rotation Pinot Noir, Marechal Foch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Tempranillo, Syrah, Blends, Rose wines, and Sauvignon Blanc, among others.
Born and raised in the southern Willamette Valley, we love working with the iconic cool climate grapes that grow here and enjoy the beautiful, elegant, acid-driven wines they produce. Not to be overlooked, however, is the rich diversity that Pacific Northwest climates and grapes provide.
To that end, we are proud to source grapes also from the Umpqua Valley and Columbia Valley. The hardworking, passionate, and skilled grape growers in these AVAs provide us with the perfect foundation to craft robust, medium and full-bodied wines.
On the First Saturday of every month, rain or shine, McKenzie Crest Wines offers drop-in wine tastings from 1pm to 5pm. Located at the charming "Wine Garage" in Thurston, our tasting space allows you to enjoy wine by the flight, glass, or bottle. Ask about the Freytag Cellars label and we will be happy to let you sample our current rotation of wines.
